meet the hosts
Hi there, we’re Inga and Edda!
We are a mother-daughter team who believe nature is the best medicine.
Inga has lived on the property for 20 years raising a family of 5 kids; as a homemaker, renovator and gardener. Edda spent 10 years building startups within the sustainable fashion movement in Brisbane, Melbourne and London before she decided to escape city life and relocate to the bush. With a shared love of nature and projects, we dreamed up the tiny house concept during our many morning walks in Mount Bally Reserve.
Bringing this project to life has been a dream come true. From finding the perfect location on the property to planting over 200 trees, it’s been a rewarding journey. In search of a location, we settled on an area where there had been an old, leaky concrete water tank sitting at the top of the property for over 30 years. It wasn’t a particularly alluring area, despite boasting some of the best views. It was a (very) steep hike to get up there, which also made it a challenging site to position a tiny house!
We worked with Aussie Tiny Houses to design a space that invited nature inside. The views, the surrounding bush, the wildlife - there is so much to take in. It was also important to us that we could present artwork from some of our favourite artists on the walls. After 12 months of planning, drawing and building, we were ready to open the doors.
Hamar House is named after our dad (and grandad), Haraldur Hamar. He believes the good things in life ought to be shared. Hamar House is about sharing experiences in nature that remind us of what’s important in life.
We continue to plant trees every month and encourage everyone to find time to reconnect with nature, hug trees and get to know the Australian bush.
